3 min read

Twelve startups were selected to take part in the new accelerator program in Tel Aviv by the US-based seed accelerator Techstars, the organization recently announced. The 13-week program started on October 18 and will run until January 13, 2022.

This second accelerator marks a new development in the program, which will now run two cohorts annually and double their number of startup participants.

The companies represented in this latest cohort span a wide variety of verticals, embodying a range of solutions for their industries. Each of the firms – which were handpicked from hundreds of applications – will each receive $120,000, be matched with world-renowned mentors for expert consultation, and gain access to Techstars’ global network of industry professionals and strategic investors.

Entrepreneur and Techstars Israel Managing-Director Hila Ovil-Brenner runs the Techstars Tel Aviv Accelerator. Ovil-Brenner heads the Yazamiyot, Israel’s largest community for female entrepreneurs and also leads the Barclays Accelerator powered by Techstars.

“It is the first time, internationally, we are opening two programs for the global accelerator in Tel Aviv in the same year,” said Ovil-Brenner. “I see it as an honest vote of confidence in the local program, in the Israeli ecosystem, and in Israeli startups in general. It is a great opportunity for these 12 companies who will receive the incredible and unique opportunity to meet and learn from leading experts,” she added.

To date, Techstars operates 50 accelerators worldwide, that have collectively worked with more than 2,600 companies including 16 “Unicorns,” (companies valued at more than $1 billion) adding up to a joint market capitalization exceeding $63.3 billion.
