2022 Ridgeline

The 2022 Honda Ridgeline returns largely unchanged following a toughening up for the 2021 model year. It’s still the spacious midsize 4-door pickup with seating for five. Unlike most others in the segment, the Ridgeline is a unibody truck that offers a more comfortable ride than those built using traditional body-on-frame construction. The Ridgeline’s SUV underpinnings have been strengthened for truck duty.

There’s only one powertrain, but it is a good one. Honda’s proven 3.5-liter V6 engine moves many vehicles within the brand and, in this case, delivers 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. It’s matched to a 9-speed automatic transmission with paddle-shift levers and all-wheel drive (AWD). Torque vectoring is a notable feature in this AWD system that can send up to 70% of power to the Ridgeline’s rear wheels for added stability and composure both on road and off.

This AWD powertrain benefits from a multi-mode terrain response feature that aids its footing on slippery, wet surfaces. The Ridgeline can tow up to 5,000 pounds, enough for pulling a small boat, a pair of motorcycles, or even a couple of personal watercraft. The pickup bed has a maximum payload of 1,583 pounds. It also includes an underfloor storage area with a drain plug, making it the perfect place to keep ice-cold drinks during a tailgate party.

The 2022 Honda Ridgeline is available in four trim levels. The base is the Ridgeline Sport, followed by Ridgeline RTL, Ridgeline RTL-E, and topline Ridgeline Black Edition.

2022 Ford Ranger

The 2022 Ford Ranger is a highly adaptable truck that makes everyone forget the previous Ranger. The turbocharged 2.3-liter inline 4-cylinder engine makes 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. It’s linked to a 10-speed automatic transmission and moves with authority. Four-wheel drive is available for $4,000+, depending on trim level.
