Indiana State Police have released the name of the man killed in a double homicide outside of a New Albany gas station.

Two people were found dead in the parking lot of the Circle K at Grant Line Road and Beechwood Avenue on Monday.

Police had already identified the woman who died as Brandee Douglass, and the suspect as her husband, Cherok Douglass.

ISP now says the other victim is a man from Louisville — Lorin Yelle, 43 — and they don’t believe he has any connection to the others.

Investigators believe Yelle was a customer of the gas station where the shootings took place and was shot after leaving the store and walking to his vehicle.

As of now, Cherok Douglass is only charged with kidnapping and robbery. The kidnapping charge stems from a woman who was taken hostage at gunpoint after Cherok Douglass fled from officers, police said.

There are no murder charges yet, but they could be forthcoming pending an autopsy.

Autopsies are scheduled for Monday, April 11.

The suspect was shot by police and the hostage was hurt during the situation, but neither of their injuries are considered to be serious. Cherok Douglass is out of the hospital.
